Hi I was wondering if anyone could tell me of some free boat ramps around metro detroit/irish hills area. I just purshased my first boat to use around here ( we have several in northern MI) and lets just say it runs less than good.... Gas kills me bad enough... I dont want to have to pay $10 to put in and find out I cant even make it off the trailer.

Thanks

The ramps are free in downtown Detroit. It's when you get held up at gunpoint that costs....

Kinda wondering why you would consider launching a boat when you know it has engine problems and you may not make it back?
Given any thought to repairing you boat to run correctly and then worrying about where to launch?

Try this site. It is from the dnr and lists all public access points in MI as well as a brief description.
Access Points

The "downtown" Detroit ramp is at the foot of St Jean St and costs a "free" $7, $6 for 63 and over.
The Wyandotte municipal ramp is also $7 for non-residents at the lower end of the river.
The best ramp around Detroit is the Harley Ensign in Harrison Township where the Clinton river goes into Lake St Clair. They have 18 perfectly pitched ramps with long docks, parking for 400+ and is protected. An annual sticker is $24 which gives you unlimited use at this and all other dnr sites including some near the Irish Hills.
