Any difference between the grey motors and the white ones?

My 2000 Johnson 115 is a darker metallic grey whereas I see many white ones of the same vintage. Is there any material differences between the two other than color?

I think the salt water engines were white. Don't know the difference as most outboards are designed to be operated in whatever water you choose; but I have seen the white ones with some sort of name on them eluding to their being especially made to combat the ill effects of the salt.

I had thought the ocean pro and ocean runner models had more SS hardware.

it probably is mostly marketing

The grey metallic ones have more power and start easier. Lifetime warranty with no dealer scheduled maintence necessary.

Seriously, it's just a styling difference. You'll probably notice the model number is a bit different than normal with an "A" in there. The A is for "alternate color".

I thought the S designated special styling....which equated with WHITE usually
