I have a 12' aluminum with a deck on the bow with foot trolling motor and a deck in the back with outboard. Curious if anyone has cool tricks or stuff they have done to there boat, any ideas?

Seen a couple removable floors that were pretty cool.

I had a small tinny like that with all kinds of stuff on it but that was way before this site or before I had a digital camera, it had a fish finder holder I made that used the oar lock for the pivot, had a wiire harnes and holders so I could just drop in the battery and run it to the back of the boat.

I also made a car top carrier for it to go on my little Mazda 3, you would put the transom on the bumper stand and strap it down, load all the gear, including the '69 9.9 Johnson then pick it up and walk it around and put it on top of the car.

The problem always was that the hull is just too small and has such a low load limitand they are so tippy, it didn't take long to move up to a 16' trailer boat.

You are only limited by your imagination and what you are able to do.

There does seem to be a whole other world out there with tinny boats. I only realized this when i took a good look at the boat that those three lost-at-sea teens were in, then started looking up the make and type of aluminum boat.

Yeah, it was small, but it was a better aluminum boat for its size than many I've ever seen here in the states. I'm sure more ideas abound.

Krs1, try looking at http://www.tinboats.net. It's a site geared just towards small tin boats and modification for fishing. Here are some things I've done to my Lund to make it a bit better for trout fishing and crabbing. Although these boats are small, they're great for fishing. You don't need a 26' boat to enjoy the water!

Simple front deck with storage hatch.

Built in middle seat hatch for fuel storage.

Electrical accessories including a trolling motor plug in, GPS mount, fish finder mount, and switches for a bilge pump and other accessories.

Very nice. Looks like a lean mean fishin' machine. I like the way you've laid everything out.

That's nice I have a similar deck on mine a little bigger carpeted with the foot trolling motor mount. I need some rod holders like that!!! How do I post pics on here?

I have been contemplating the purchase of a flat bottom tinny and making it into a bowfishing rig. Put a nice platform on the front of it with a trolling motor and let the arrows fly!! I made the wife a bit nervous trying it on my Crownline last year so I think maybe shes right in that I don't wanna mess up the interior of my crownie by drilling the hull with an arrow or something.

There are a bunch of bow guys around where I am, the one guy has an 18 jon with a trillion candle power of lights run by a generator on board.

Took my buddy and me a good while to figure out what it was, couldn't figure out how the guy could be going so slow with the engine running such a high rpm.

My dream boat is a jon but 18'x8', I would buy the hull and build the boat inside it by myself but so far the lottery has illuded me.

Its all about beam, if the baot is wide enough it makes it hugely more stable, i think mine was 42'', you had to give a warning when you went for the cooler so you didn't tip.

You are only limited by your imagination. You can add a lot of extras that make fishing easier but don't add much weight. Here are some pics of my 14' utility. It was the deluxe model that came with split seats and a floor in the cockpit, which makes moving around and storage quite easy. I added:

* a floor in the bow V section to make anchoring easier. I got a roll of vinyl that matched the OEM floor perfectly.
* nylon cleats every few feet for fenders and to tie a minnow bucket, etc.
* nylon grippers in the bow area for the anchor line
* added a vinyl covered plywood sheet on the front seat and mounted a swivel seat on a slider
* mounted drink holders on the front seat
* tansom mounted trolling motor
* GPS and Fish Finder mounted on a base to cover all wiring
* hard wired shorty horn
* rod holders fore and aft, with several movable brackets
* nylon clips to neatly store the oars
* swivel helm seat
* gotta have a flag!
