Is there Antique Outboard Motors Shows?

I was thinking that there maybe shows like they have for Classic Cars.

Is there many 1946 Johnson Motors around? Even better is there many Antique Outboard Motors still around?

It would be nice to have shows to show off your Old Motors.

Yup, plenty of fans/collecters of old outboard motors out there. Plenty in running condition even older than '46 too:D

Check out this link for more info.

Check out the AOMCI link above. Look under "Upcoming events" and it'll list all the shows near you.

1946 Johnsons were very popular and they made a ton of them. You might see a few at an antique OB meet. But more likely, you'll see a whole lot more still running on the back of people's boats.

Re: Antique Motors

Are the 1930's Johnson's hard to find?

I know that my 1946 5 HP Johnson had a motor cover for it and I was looking for another one since the one I had was in ver bad shape.

Also I know that dad had a gas tank for the gas and some where it got throw out or hard telling what happen to it, are they hard to find?

Another question : Are the First Mercury's hard to find? And what was the Horse Power on them?

I cannot believe that I was going to put my 1946 Johnson 5 HP in the Landfill a few years ago and I am very happy a friend brought it and restored it and give it back to me.

I now realize what I have.

1940 Mercury K-1, 2.5hp. Actually this is a Sea King, made by Mercury. There are a few around, I've seen them at shows from time to time.

Do you own this one?

What will you take for it?

Are you still useing it?

Did you have a hard time finding it?

I am looking at a 1947 6 HP Mercury KD4 and they want $415.00 for it. I don't know if that is to much or not.

Were they painted back than? If so what color were they?

Re: Antique Motors

The Mercury KD4 was painted silver. The Wizard private labeled counterpart (made by Merc) was a WD4 and it was painted gold.

I paid 40 for my WD4 and it runs quite well. Got it off E-Bay about 5 years ago. $414 is outrageous. Maybe worth $150, $200 tops in my opinion.
