Anti-siphon fittings and electric fuel pumps question.

So the boat is assembled and I got my first shakedown run in yesterday. Uneventful other than the test run on the trailer I couldn't get the fuel system to prime. I pulled the pickup and replaced the anti siphon fitting with a normal barbed fitting. Fuel pump picked up and primed no issues so I left it at that for the shake down. Note: per USCG 183.558, all my plumbing is above static tank level so it isn't "required" or at least that's how it reads to me. (correct me if I'm wrong please) I'd rather have it there anyway as if a line does break it suppose it could potentially droop below tank level and siphon out. I'm in the more protection is better camp...

My question. I have a later model 4.3l with the electric fuel pump. Online it seems to be a mixed bag of opinions (like everything) on if or if not those pumps are compatible with anti-siphon fittings. I don't see why it wouldn't be and am thinking there may have just been an issue with my new fitting. Or there is an issue with my pump. For a test I stuck a hose in a gas can and had it lift 5 feet or so through 12 feet of 3/8 line. Pulled it just fine. Pump maintains ~6 psi under load and free flows a gallon a minute or so.

Just looking to see what I should do/trouble shoot further. If I need a new pump so be it. If it's fine as is, good as well. If I need a new fitting I am fine with that too. Just want to get this right. Thanks in advance.

Ayuh,..... 1 thought, I have a boat with the fuel filter mounted abit higher up, 'n if I don't prefill the filter, it won't prime,...
Prefill it almost full, 'n it primes as it should,....

That was actually a step in the trouble shooting and it still didn't take off. But perhaps I didn't give it enough time to take off.

Thanks Bondo I'll have to look a little closer.
