REcently bought an older galaxy boat (19'). Trying to outfit it for fishing. Can't seem to figure out where to put an 8' antenna with base. any help greatly appreciated. This seems like a dumb question, but i have never done this before!!!!

Re: antenna placement

On my last 19 foot bowrider i mounted 2 8fts next to the windshield on each side.It had a wide enough flat area there. That way i could fold them down and they would lay along the sides pointing back and out of the way. Also i used a small s-hook to hold the tips down.

Re: antenna placement

maybe ya could post up some pics of yer boat. that may help folks understand yer dilemma. i'm with gary. i only did one antenna though. up by the windsheild on the port side. located it such that it just folds down and sits on the deck. i got lucky, i got walkaround gunnels on my boat, so they're flat and leave a good place for the antenna to lay when not in use. every boats gonna be differnt i reckon as to where it'll fit. i'd never installed one either. i just tried different places on the boat and imagined how it was gonna work out. think about yer wire run, how far from the radio it'll be. where yer gonna fold it down to and if where ya mount it is solid enough to deal with the stress of the antenna flopin in the breeze takein hard beatin in high seas.....also consider that ya'll need to get to the backside of it for thru bolts. i used 1/4-20 ss oval head bolts w/ ss fender washers w/ standard washers as a backup, tightend down with nyloc ss nuts......good luck.....
