Antenna parts question- don't know where to put this

Not a question on electronics per se so I put it here...

Have an 8' Shakespeare antenna on my boat and found the ferrule stripped after a road trip. It must have loosened while we drove and the vibration ate the threads off. (Chrome plated brass.) I contacted Shakespeare and they said I could ship it to them and they would replace it. The cost to ship an 8' antenna is nearly as much as just buying a new antenna. I can epoxy the ferrule on myself if I can find one but they seem tough to find. Any help from anyone?

I would assume you would want the antenna to work! Will a homemade epoxy job work? Dont't know till you need it to work.

Just buy a new one and next time secure it properly for the trip.
