My buddy bought a boat that has a loran on it which no longer can be used. Can the 8 ft. antenna be used with a GPS? If so can you cut
the antenna wire to put on the correct connection for a GPS unit?
I believe the answer is no. Loran used radio towers positioned in various spots an land which allowed the loran unit to formulate a position. GPS uses satellites orbiting the earth. Two entirely different technologies. Will need to get GPS antenna that goes with GPS unit bought or some have them built in.
