I have been looking at some of the newer fishing rigs lately and need your help and/or experience. One set-up is an "off-shore" boat 19'-21'. Whaler etc. with either a merc. o/b or Yamaha. (This boat will be trailered most of the time.) Another option is one of the newer Alumacrafts or Lunds.

As some of you may know, I fish lake Huron and Lake Michigan as well as some of the larger "inland" lakes...Your thoughts on these boats (and motors)???...Thanks.....RJ

kinda bias but I really like my Grandpa's 21.5' Lund Baron Magnum (his is a rarer I/O, most are outboards). We have used it on Superior, Michigan, and Nipegon up in Canada and it eats up 3'-4' swells with ease.

I am partial to aluminum boats. I've owned glass and aluminum, I/O and outboard and in my opinion for a fishing boat that is trailered a lot you would be hard pressed to find a better rig than the Lund. That is the boat that most of the guides run in the lower Niagara River and into Lake Ontario. Also I don't think I would ever own another I/O. The newer outboards are just as effiecent, lighter, and easier to work on. In my opinion almost any quaility aluminum boat would work for what you want.
