Another transducer question

Hello all,

I am new to this site and fairly new to boating. I looked for an area to introduce yourself as a new member, but had no such luck.

Nevertheless, I am very excited to be here and looking forward to meeting new fellow boaters. I have a question regarding my depth finder and the transducer...

I am in the process of installing an in dash depth finder and removing my old unit. (Eagle Cuda 125) it appers the unit was installed with a thru hull set up, but there's also a transducer (or what appers to be) on the transom. This has a small hose that runs to the back of the speedo gauge.

Can someone tell me what the heck this is?? Does it have something to do with measuring the speed? Can I remove this when I install the new depth finder?

Thank you all for the help!

Re: Another transducer question

It's likely a pitot tube. Yes to all of the above questions, but if you remove it the speedo it's connected to won't work.
