Another tach question

Hello group,<br /><br />Well it looks like my old tach will not work on my engine. I'm looking at some used gauges on ebay. They were installed on a 1976 Evinrude 115 hp. I have a 1975 70 hp Evinrude. The fellow selling the tach said there is a switch on the back for 2,3,4,6. Will this tach work on my motor? These are OMC gauges he is selling.<br /><br />Thanks<br />Arnie

No reason that Tach wouldn't work....6 is what you're after...

Thanks for the help.<br />I'm still not sure why the setting should be on 6. I counted the coils under the flywheel and devided by 2. Don't seem to get 6 though. I hope my manual will help if it ever gets here! I'll bid on the gauges tonight.<br /><br />Again thanks for taking the time to answer my question.<br /><br />Best Regards<br />Arnie
