We are blessed to have the Apostle's with us. St. Paul, and Apostle Guru?? or does he go by another name?? Anyway thanks to both of you for you help. Really, if I'd have read the book it states 17 inch transom, Must have had a Senior Moment???
Now for the current events..... I hope I did a good job on raising the height on my transom. Yesterday with a tempory fix my 9.8 A3 ran like a Swiss Watch. So now I'm waiting for the paint to dry, really, and for Sunday when I get my boat in the water to check the height and RPM's ... I think it fires once per revolution. so that's how I'm setting the gauge on the rpm meter.. I didn't go the full 17 inches, as it ran very well at 15 7/8 ? Now it's at a 16 inch+ a 1/8 ? Any more advise is very welcomed, as you know what you are talking about. I will need to order some gaskets for the oil drain ?

Yes, as a siamese-coil setup, each cylinder fires simultaneously, once per revolution. Technically, one spark is "wasted" on the exhaust stroke. Be sure to follow the inductive-tach manufacturer's directions precisely, and if the aftermarket tach acts weird, don't hesitate to call the manufacturer. Modern CD-equipped OB's have very very short ignition pulses of very very high voltage, which can cause fits for some inductive tachometers. YMMV. In our shop, we stick with the Factory dashboard instruments, and expensive, high-quality shop instruments.

Since each rig is different, the exact jack height cannot determined with a tape measure, but by trial, as you have done. Good Job !

Any dealer (including several forum members, including Elvin and myself), can provide you with 332600060M GASKET (10 MULTIPLE), $1.03 each. They come to the dealer 10 at a time, but we can usually sell 1, 2, or 3 as desired. The same gasket fits the flushing plug of the 9.8, BTW.

ST PAUL send me 5, five and a bill if you trust me don't think postage is more than .50 cents?? I will continue to order any thing I need from St Paul.... You will never live this one down.... It took about 3 hour to Fab the transom...It's good to go...
