another remote conversion

I have a 1992 Tohatsu 40 (3 cylinder model)

It has a factory tiller.

I've found all sorts of schematics and parts numbers for remotes and other components but I haven't found anywhere that says anything like buy these 3 parts and you're set.

I know I will need the remote control box and the control cables but I need to know if there are any other less obvious parts to exchange.

Is there a conversion kit somewhere? Or am I on the right track of just needing the box and cables?

I have a machine shop so I can fabricate any misc. clips, grommets, and most adapters.

Thanks,
Dan

It came with my 19 foot MacGregor power sailer. The engine well is so small that I can't turn the engine to the left without smacking the wall with the tiller pivot joint. It kills my docking manueverability completely.

You need:

Control box assembly
SRC kit
Steering link
Pair of control cables.

Thanks, I didn't know about the SRC kit.

Do you have a reference for where I could find out which kit I specifically need for my model? Or is this something I just need to call Tohatsu about and buy direct?

Is the SRC kit the conversion kit Nissan shows on their website? And I am assuming the drag link they show is the steering link?

FYI...you can also order the SRC kit from the Tohatsu Guru's excellent website at www.internetoutboards.com

link to his control box/src kit section can be found at:

http://www.internetoutboards.com/department.asp?id=17

I don't think they come with any instructions, diagrams, etc on how to install all the pieces 'n parts so you may want to get a service manual as well. And also download a parts catalogs (available for free on his website as well)
