OK all, I'll admit that I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer and I need some computer help.
I am operating with Windows OS and I have different webpages shortcutted[is that a word?] to my desk top.
Now my question is, What do I need to set to have them open up full size instead of that little screen?
Thanks from a "dummy" :D

Spinner Bait,
Try double clicking on the blue tab at the top of the window, this will sometimes open the window to full screen, also you could try right clicking on the tab at the bottom which corresponds to the program, and click on maximize. Also the word "shortcut" drop the "ed" is both plural and singular. I hope this helps?!

Re: Another Puter Question

88spl, I am talking about webpages that I have on my desktop. I can double click them to open, but they all open in little windows instead of the full size windows.
I understand how to maximize, and such with the task bar and the - and X, but I know there is a setting somewhere that can be set to open these windows in full screen.
Thanks

Re: Another Puter Question

Lester, I have not been able to find a setting to do this. I have figured a work around using IE and XP. It will probably work on other versions of either or both

1. Open IE. Make sure screen is not maximized using the maximize button. In the upper right hand corner, you should see three buttons. The middle should be the full screen button, not the 2 screen button if you know what I mean.

2. Grab the bar at the top of the IE window and move it to the top left of your screen.

3. Grab the lower left corner of your screen and drag it as big as you want.

4. Close the window using the X in the uper left hand corner.

Now use your icons and you will see the biggest screen you can get. There may be a switch for the command line, but I have not been able to find one. Maybe Hotbyte or one of the other computer guys will come up with something.

Grab Bill Gates by the throat and squeeze until you hear a strange gurgling sound.

Re: Another Puter Question

This is the only way I know to always maximize, even off a desktop shortcut.

1. click START - RUN

2. Type regedit in the box and click OK
Navigate down to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\InternetExplorer\Desktop\OldWorkAreas

3. delete the key labelled "Old Work Area Reacts"

4. once you have rebooted your computer, IE windows should ALWAYS be maximized when you open them.

If your apprehensive about making changes to your registry, you can save a copy before you make changes. Go to file, export. And if you want to restore it just go to File, import. Point it to your saved copy and presto.

Hope it helps

DC

Re: Another Puter Question

What scoop said, just saying it a different way.

Use your shortcut to open the page.

Move the entire window to the upper lefthand corner of the desktop.

Use your mouse to drag the window edge to the size you want.

When you close the window, it should open to the size you had set.

This has worked in Windows 98, ME, 2000, and NT.

Sometimes your system will be stubborn and it won't work. Good Luck.

Did you get that "sharpest knife in the drawer" line from the 4 Star General on FOX News today?
If so, he sure gives a good speach.

Re: Another Puter Question

Thanks everyone. I found out that all you have to do is to drag one of the screens out to full size and all of the other one's will open up to the same size.
