What is standard thermastat heat range for a 1991 cobra 4.3?Mine runs at 180 degrees,at least by my temp gauge. Is this the normal temp for this engine?I asume it has 180 thermastat in it.Mine stays at the temp after warmed up.

OMC only offers the 160 degree thermostat for the 4.3L. 180 on the gage is normal.

Phil...as far as I know 160 is the norm for these. You could have a guage or sending unit slightly off, I have a pair of 460 Cobras and one always hits 160 dead on and the other is up around 170, I checked both T-stats and they are 160's, I never bothered trying to swap guages/sending units to see where the difference was, it's been that way for the last 8 years with no problems.

Mine has the 160 thermostat, and it runs at exactly 160.

Ok
Guys I just wonder.I had read 160 but didn't know,by my gauge.I am just learning on my new used boat.By the way it is a 1991 Mariah z1900 bowrider I bought at the end of summer last year.It only had 85 actual hours on it and had always been stored in side.I got all records for it,and had it checked out.I felt it was all correct beings I knew the people that had it and I had been around boat since they bought it new.
So I am just learning about it.
