Well I just modified my 21' cheiftain again. I moved the door again to swing in to the right up against the shelf I built in the cabin a few years ago. The boat orginally had the door swing out against the passenger seat, I switched in to swing in to the left (was like this for 4or5 years) and I had the fish box on top of the bench seat, which took up seating space in the cabin. With door swinging into the right I made a removeable shelf with folding leg for the left hand side for the fish box to set on. I also have a water line hooked to a pump that pumps fresh water into the fish box, switch installed right by the fish box, and a fish box drain where the old sink drain was. I made the fish box shelf so a 5 gallon can of gas or 5 gallon buckets can go under it so I do not sacrafice storage. Now I can keep the fish blood and guts back towards the back of the boat and I now have both my bench seats available for passengers. which will work great because normally 2 sit in the cabin while going out fishing. Most of my trips are 30-90 min from dock.
I installed a valve and quick disconnect on my fish box drain.
Also I installed a latch on the door to keep the door open.
I always wash the fish down with cool water several times during the day before getting back to dock to wash the blood out. I always bleed my fish in a bucked first then put them in the fish box.
