Great forum here
I will jump right in with a question.

I have a 1985 Gamefisher 7.5 and from all the info I have read here already I know that it's made by Eska with a Tecumseh motor.
It will start and die when gas is pumped to it with the pump bulb on the fuel line from the separate tank. I removed the carb and it looks like someone before me did some work on it (or tried to). The float was set so low that the needle was seated all the time. I reset the float and cleared the passages in the float bowl bolt thing. It still will just do the start die routine.
From searching thru all the posts here It was mentioned on several occasions that the fuel pump could be the culprit.
Now here is my problem, I can't seem to find the fuel pump. I can't seem to find any pictures or diagrams of a fuel pump or where it is mounted.
Since my motor does not have a built in tank I figure it should have one. The fuel line goes from the connector and runs directly to the side of the carb.
I am starting to wonder if someone at one time replaced the original carb with the wrong one.
The outboard # is 217-586751
the motor # is 640-23a
on the carb is stamped #1015
I will try and get a picture posted tomarrow.
(I was unable to find a diagram on the Sears site)

Thanks for any info you may have
did I say this was a GREAT forum ?

Check your fuel lines on the motor , and , the primer bulb .
The old fuel lines could be cracked / dry rotted .
Primer bulbs do go bad .

When I bought the boat last fall the owner said that the Evenrude 85hp was doing the start and die thing. So when I tried out the Gamefisher that was supposed to run good and it also acted that way, I thought maybe it was a fuel supply problem, so I bought a new tank, hose and bulb and used fresh gas. I haven't got the opportunity to try out the 85hp yet.
I can get a rebuild carb for the Gamefisher but now that I can't find a fuel pump on the motor I am not sure if this is the right carb. I have a suspicion that it may be from another motor with a built in fuel tank that does not need a fuel pump.

OK I may have figured it out?
Is the fuel pump (orange tube thing) built into the back of the carb ?

Yes the fuel pump is in the carb flange refered to as an "element" and must be installed right to work correctly.45Degree angle 2 oclock and 7 oclock. These seem to be constant problems.
