I drop screwdriver inside of the engine compartment (Yamaha xlt1200) and I can’t get it out. Can I just leave it there or it can generate problems beside funky noise on the sharp turns.

Re: Another dumb question.

Have you tried to use one of those extension magnet rods available from WalMart for a couple of bucks? Great for for when 'Murphy' hits and you need to fish out metal parts that drop in inaccessable locations...

I do that all the time, tip the trailer up in the front and put the garden hose under the engine the water will force it to the rear where you can get your hands on it.

Jeff, How you dry out engine compartment after that. Do you remove as much water as you can and let it seat on sun or they’re other tips for it?

Legeboka; Screw out your drain plugs in the rear and then lift your trailer up in the front till the water drains out. Whatever water is left in the hull just sponge it up or I use a wet/dry vacuum with a long extension tube.

Re: Another dumb question.

XLT1200 has two separate compartments for engine (up front) and battery (on the back) and high divider between them. Because of that drain plugs wouldn’t do much but I guess vacuum will do the job.

Re: Another dumb question.

it should have a water passage between the two, if not I wonder how water would get out from riding it. I have used a blow gun with compressed air but water forces it out pretty fast. a magnet will usually drop it when you try to take it out, plus I usually drop stainless bolts and magnets don't work on that. In the future place a old towel below where you are working so things don't get under the engine.
