Hi All,
Starting to run through a 1976 Mariner 21 footer that I recently purchased. I'm looking for anodes on the hull and can't find any mounted...or any lonely mounts. Where should they be? Any ideas for adding mounts? Any ideas for what size anodes?

Thanks,
Jeff

If boat does not stay in the water plugged up to shore power then there is no need
If boat does not have a Mercathode or similar then nothing to connect

Guess I should re-state this. The Mercathode produces an opposing current and if its not there then there is no added protection.

Need to understand what your trying to protect because the anode needs to be connected to it, either directly with metal to metal contact, or by a wire

Thanks AllDodge,
There is definitely no active cathodic protection system. I guess I was just expecting to find a passive anode like what is on the outboard. Just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something! Thanks, Jeff

My new to me 22' Islander that was savaged by a PO, it has a dinky hull anode that was painted over and rendered worthless, seen in the pic above the drain plug. The motor's anodes are going to be plenty, just make sure they're in good shape.
