I have a 17' bowrider with a 3.0L Mercruiser I/O. I bought it used with a Stainless prop. The boat mhas a heavy pull to left under power. I know this should be adjusted with the prop anode but somewhere long ago I seem to have heard that you do not use a finned anode with a Stainless prop. (This boat has a finned anode)
Should I? a. Try adjusting with the finned anode.
Or? b. Buy a new anode without a fin.

Re: anode with SS prop

As your facing the prop, move the back of the fin to the left, to compensate. Then water pressure will push your outdrive to the right slightly, helping counteract pulling to the left.

Sometimes a stainless prop will be to close to are actually touch the anode.
If it cleares the anode then you can use it to adjust for torque pull.

Re: anode with SS prop

Exposed stainless will promote electrolysis of the aluminum parts near it, and needs cathodic protection (suitable anodes). Anodes will slowly lose mass as they do their job.
