anode deterioration

if the surfaces of the anodes are pitted and starting to corrode is it time to replace them? how often in fresh water?

Depends, pitting means that they are working properly. All you need to do is clean the corrosion and powder off with a wire brush or a file.<br /><br />They are due for replacement when they are about half worn - salt or fresh.<br /><br />Aldo
