The anode bolt kit I got includes a rubber washer, but I'm not sure where to place it. The Merc manual says to place it between the bolt and gimbal housing to act as a seal, but the on-line diagrams show it going between the bolt and zinc. Any opinions? Merc 225s 1974, ford 302. Thank You.

Im not sure about the rubber washer, but I do know that the zinc must have, metal to metal contact on the componant that it is designed to protect.

This Bolt,.........
It's about 5" long,..?? Threaded on Both Ends,.....
1 end is threaded,+ Looks like a Regular Bolt,.. only Aluminum,......
The Other End,.. The 1 We're talking about,..??
It's threaded about 1/2", to a Flange like washer looking Head..............

This Bolt,... is mounted in the Lower-most hole of the transom assembley,.. 1 each side,.......
The Long End goes thru the transom with enough 4200 or 5200 to Well Seal it's Hole,+ a SSteel nylock nut & washer go on the Inside of the transom, along with 1 of those "Bonding Straps",......... Tighten to about 30/35ft.lbs...........
On the Outside of the transom, Install the little Rubber Washer,+ the Zinc........
The Rubber Washer allows good contact pressure for the Zinc,+ the Aluminum Bolt(thru the threads), to the transom assembley(inside,+ outside),....Etc.....
An Old Zinc can be a Real Bear to remove with the rubber washer in place,.........
Without It,...... You'd Never Get It Off..........

Wow. Perfect description of the bolt, Bondo, and installation info. One question I have though is what is the "bonding strap" and what would the other end conect to? Is it like a ground strap to the engine?
