Annual Mercruiser Maintenance

I have a 6.2 300 hp mercruiser (mercury made block/newer style on a 2020 boat). The manual has a few annual maintenance points I have some questions on.

1) “Clean the gauges and check wire connection” Is this as simple as making sure the connections are tight and making sure the glass on the gauge is clean? Anything else?

2) “Tighten the connection of the gimbal ring to the steering shaft” Is this re torquing the two bolts on the top side of the gimbal ring?

3) “Check the steering system for loose components” Anywhere in particular? Steering cylinder?

These are all labeled as dealer items when they seem simple enough, assuming I’m interpreting them correctly. Thanks all

So far I think your doing good
More important is

Replace drive lube, change oil, check alignment

In addition to above If those are closed cooling would check the freeze point before bedding it down for the winter, and also assume there is a change interval for the AF

the wiring connectors electronic silicone grease clean it and did the silicone grease connectors ..
DID the fall,,,, changed it engine oil, outdrive gear oil , take off the outdrive and inspect it and do the grease shaft and the shifter area ..also the air pressure is outdrive 10psi 24hrs ..
I was the outdrive gasket and the silicone grease ...
inspect the gimbal rubber .

some of those boaters are in the spring and rusted it in the water in the outdrive and the gimbal area ...
also the impeller water is around 2-3 yrs ....

Some of them look to be boiler plate. steering linakage look for play between steering arm and pin inside boat. play between steering cylinder and steering arm.

I had two odd ball ones over the years - nut holding steering cable to steering cylinder mechanism got loose, also had at the helm some play when reversing turn and some tightness in spots. A clamp collar in tilt mechanism for steering wheel at helm cam loose created some slop when going from right to left and vice versa. Clamp bolt came loose. if its not sloping or binding wouldn't sweat it too much
