Every time I change pages a pop up appears at the bottom of the site page. This is the only site that I see this.

Any solutions?

I was wondering the same thing. It gets pretty tiresome having to click it out of the way all the time.

Re: Annoying Pop Ups

Many people are using firefox or Chrome to get around them.

Some people swear by aftermarket popup blockers.

For the longest time, I would get one on the first page I visited, closed it, and no more on subsequent pages.

Now for the last couple weeks, I don't get any, ever. Don't know why. Nothing has changed on my puter.
I did start clicking on some of the links in the popups about a month ago. Maybe that is the key.
I actually like that sportsman's weather conditions page.

Anyways, its a very small price to pay to have access to these forums.

The mods will tell you, it is very very expensive to run these boards we all love and that is a viable way to pay for them, as roscoe said, it is a small price to pay for access to the largest source of boating knowledge on the web.

Yeah, I appreciate the need for advertising dollars, but at least the advertisers could use an add that loads in a reasonable amount of time, isntead of being so dog slow and dogging out the page entirely. Nearly ruins the experiance of coming to this site.

I agree. the pop-ups ahve gotten worse and are becoming intolerable. Used to be, they popped up when you first started, and then you didn't see them again.

And what a stupid marketing strategy. Does Chevy think that if I am not interested in their truck the first time, that I will become more interested the more annoyed I get? That I will break down and buy one after 20 pop-ups? As if that will stop them? The more I get, the more I like the competion!

I know advertising supports a system like this, but too much will drive the serious participants elsewhere. I'm about there now.

If I bought a new Chevy truck with Quacker State oil would the pop ups go away?

What pop-ups? I haven't even had the initial bottom p-u for Chevy, Viagra, whatever in weeks.

Quick update. iboats has been paying attention and they are turning off the pop ups (bottom up deal thing, often Chevy) after one pop for each visit. Let's see if that makes this a little more tolerable.

That's the way it used to be, and is perfectly acceptible to me. It hasn't happened yet, though.

If you get Firefox or Chrome and add the AdBlock Plus plug in it goes away, along with all of the other ads.

1000X this^^^^ I never see a thing on any site and pages load faster. I support iBoats by ordering all my boating supplies and parts from them even though I've found many products cheaper elsewhere! Now if they'd only let me use my forum credentials to leave comments on purchased items.....I sent an email stating such and of course got nada in return. Seriously though, I don't need another online identity especially in light of the fact that I already have one on here! Think about it guys!

I wasn't complaining, just stating a fact, in case you all thought it was "fixed" already. (btw, 3 screen changes in for me so far, and the popup only appeared when I first logged in. fingers crossed.)

Wait, upon further review (and more screen changes) it's still popping up about every rd page change. Better than every time, for sure.

Re: Annoying Pop Ups

I say get rid of them and put them on the side of the page. Of course that makes way too much sense.
