Anniversary poem help

In a few months (and they go by quickly) my wife and I will be celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. I am not the creative type and would like some help/choices for a short poem to express my sentiments. Possibly something that I could have engraved on some kind of jewelry. For instance, it could be something about presenting her with a medal for putting up with a dog like me for 20 years and all the while making me feel like a prince.

I have been Googling the net but haven't found what I'm looking for so now I'm pulling out the big guns and turning to the "source". Please help.

Thanks a big bunch,
Nick

Re: Anniversary poem help

Here's a beaut idea.
Get the biggest coin in your currency, especially if it has your current Presidents head on it and this years date.
Get a jeweler to shave down one side of it, and insert the words "For Long Service and Good Conduct".
In the middle, have engraved something appropriate, eg bird for flying, anchor for boating etc. Whatever she is into, good at, or known for.
Then you get her full name engraved around the edge.
Then hop down to your medal mounting shop and get a nice clasp and ribbon attached.
How's that for a unique bloke'y idea?
(Probably keep her quiet for a while too)
Check out the example below.
Cheers
Phillip

PS.
Don't laugh.
I got a small coin, with a made date same as wifes birth year.
Got this bloke to cut out-around the native bird (her countries emblem) in the centre, leaving just the bird.
Then got him to gold plate it and set it up to go on her charm bracelet.
Looks really good, and no one else has one.
20 yrs later, I occasionally catch her looking at it - I reckon she still hasn't got her head around it!!

Re: Anniversary poem help

Has to be a short poem if you want to put in on jewellery. I write Mrs Ken a poem every Christmas, Birthday, Mothers day, Anniversary. Relates to our family life, it's ups and downs, memorable incidents from the past and looking to the future etc. I write them on the card so usually by a pretty bare one to get enough space. She still has every one from over the years kept in a box. We have framed a couple of them and have them hanging in the house. I write them with both comedy but also from the heart.
just a thought.

Re: Anniversary poem help

Just modify the verses to fit your situation

The dog threw up.
The kids are ill.
Our bank account
Is almost nil.

The laundry?s
Stacked up in a pile,
And still I know
I have to smile.

Although our life
Might look like blight,
I get to be
With you each night.

It may be tough,
That much is true,
But still I love
My life with you.

Happy Anniversary!

Scavenger Hunt......leave her clues to find whatever it is that you decide to get her.... make the hunt go through places you have been or places you have had a good time and make a note about what you remember of that time for her to read when she gets to it.....GPS would really help in with this but, not necessary......just leave clues or notes to the next place.....or go along with her in case she gets lost....you are her guide....through life...and the hunt for happiness
Or go dig through old photos take them to WM and scan them onto a DVD with your favorite music pop it in the DVD player and bam you are magic.......if you are not technical there are people there who can help.

Re: Anniversary poem help

My favorite romantic poem, sure to please:

Kudzu is green, my dog's name is Blue
And I'm so lucky to have a sweet thang like you.

Yore hair is like cornsilk, a‑flapping in the breeze.
Softer than Blue's and without all them fleas.

You move like the bass, which excite me in May.
You ain't got no scales, but I luv you anyway.

You have all yore teeth, for which I am proud;
I hold my head high when we're in a crowd.

On special occasions, when you shave yore armpits,
Well, I'm in hawg heaven, I'm plumb outta my wits.

And speakin' of wits, you've got plenty fer shore.
'Cuz you married me back in '94.
(I knowd that really ain?t the year, but 91 don't rhyme)

Still them fellers at work they all want to know,
What I did to deserve such a purty, young doe.

Like a good roll of duct tape, yo're there fer yore man,
To patch up life's troubles and stick 'em in the can.

Yo're as strong as a four‑wheeler racin' through the mud,
Yet fragile as that sanger named Naomi Judd.

Cut from the best pattern like a flannel shirt of plaid,
You sparked up my life like a Rattletrap shad.

Yore complexion, it's perfection, like the best vinyl sidin'.
Despite all the years, yore age, it keeps hidin'.

And when you get old like a '57 Chevy,
Won't put you on blocks and let grass grow up heavy.

Me 'n' you's like a Moon Pie, with a RC cold drank,
We go together like a skunk goes with stank.

Some men, they buy chocolate for Anniversary Day;
They git it at Wal‑Mart; It's romantic that way.

Some men git roses on that special day,
From the cooler at Kroger. "That's impressive," I say.

Some men buy fine diamonds from the Kmart booth.
"Diamonds are forever," they explain, suave and couth.

But for this man, honey, these will not do.
For you are too special, you sweet thang you.

I got you a gift, without taste nor odour,
Better than diamonds, it's a new trollin' motor!

Just pull out the old guitar and sing her a song like "dance with me" by Johnny Reid.... and if you really wanna impress... do it in front of a big crowd. :/

Sticks and stones may break my bones
But whips and chains excite me.
So throw me down and tie me up
And show me that you like me

Twenty years ago our promises we made
Our love kept growing and did not fade
Now is the time you get partially paid
With this brand new love purchased diamond upgrade.

Very nice, but the upgrade should be the boat, not the diamond ... just saying ...
