Hi Ron,

You are gonna love it. Sun City is great and is one of the better Casino / Hotel / Theme places around. Not my favorite place however, I prefer less commercial places. If you play Golf then bring your clubs as it has one of the better courses around, thats where they play the by invitation omly "Million Dollar Callenge".

The weather is great here, shorts and T shirt type stuff.

They certainly are not saving any expense, Sun City aint cheap and the Cape Grace has been voted one of the better hotels in the world. The V&A waterfront is O.K. and there is a reasonable Aquarium there. I would however suggest that you take a sunset booze cruise on a catamaran, pretty neat, if you want details I will get them for you.

We make very good wine here, if you like good wine then make time to visit a few wine estates. You also gotta get up table mountain, the view is spectacular.

The game lodge, now thats my thing. Please don't do the tourist thing by buying Khaki clothing, felt hats with leopard skin trim etc. etc. A camera with as much lens as you can is a must. If you have place a pair of binoculars may come in handy. We have different plugs so get adaptors. We are on 220v.

Would be nice to meet up for a beer. I know you are kinda rushed, would be nice to see your full itinary.

I run a business in Johannesburg and can be reasonbly flexible in my timing. My business also has a branch in Cape Town so I will be able to get a lot of brochures and details for you if you should wish.

Keep me posted on any details you may want.

Cheers
Andrew

PS: Would there be time to get you on some of our inland water?

I hear that it is 90 and 100 degrees there now. I hope they have good tasting beer. I hear that they give you booze on the game drives heck I might even try to saddle one of those rhinos. It would be nice to do some fishing but I'll have to wait and see. I bet the fishing is great there. what is the catamaran drive .it sounds like it would be fun to take a booze cruise.

I know I'm going to try a big Ostrich burger and a picture of beer.
again thanks for the infomation Andrew.
My email is ron@kontane.com

Ron Regan

Hi Ron,

From another South African in J'burg. Just some general tips. When flying in from Atlanta, I find the jetlag is much worse than when flying from Jhb to the USA. Expect to be tired/whacked for about 3 days. When you get here, I know the temptation is big to go out and see things but try and hit the sack as soon as you can. Sleep is the only cure for jetlag.

DO NOT walk around the streets of JHB or any other city for that matter with more than a few Rand's in your pocket and NEVER have valuables like passport, cell phone, jewelry etc with you. Lock in hotel safe. Crime is rife here and you are identified as an easy target by your camera etc. I would even suggest that you leave your regular Rolex, wedding band, bracelets etc at home and if you need a watch, get a $5 Wallyworld special. I've been wearing one for 2 years now if if it's lost, no sweat.

Beer is good over here, much on a par with millers and bud etc. you'll enjoy them.

Have fun, South Africa is a great place.
