Ok I found another boat that maybe just what ive been looking for!! here is what the listing reads:

"~~I have a 95 19ft Larson 194sei with a 5.0 volvo motor/out drive. I'm not sure of the hrs, but it runs perfect, their is normal scratches on the outside for the age of the boat, but the inside and interior are perfect for the age of the boat. I just put a new prop and water pump on the boat. If interested I can start it up in the driveway so you can see how well it runs and that it has no leaks! You are getting a great boat for this price! ~~"

Listed at $5700.. After negotiating all day, he finally accepted my $4,000 offer. He told me there is no suprises, everything is great. No leaks, solid floor, everything works, and interior is in great shape.

What do you guys think about this one?

Is it a Ford, or Chevy motor? The Dizzy is in the Front on a Ford, and it's in the Back on a Chevy motor. Does it have full power trim? Some Volvo's have a trailering position only, not made for tilting the drive when under power. Aside from that, It's a nice looking boat, in nice shape from the pix anyway.

Not sure if the '95 Larsons still have wood stringers... When I was researching my boat ('97 Larson 186 sei), I thought they had gone to engineered (non-wood) stringers in '96, but it's been a while and i'm not certain. I would look very carefully at the thru-bolts that hold the swim ladder to the transom. That is where water entered my transom and started substantial rot. If the bolts turn or are loose, that's a bad sign. It's hard to see the inside if the transom at that spot, because there is a carpeted board covering the inside rear wall of the engine compartment. If you see any telltales of water (crusty carpet, white residue) on the deck back there, be very cautious. Otherwise, it looks like a nice boat and that would be a decent price in my area. They're good sturdy boats. Jim

Im Sooo mad. Drove 2.5 hours one way to look at this Larson. The pics looked good and the guy told me excellent condition. No problems at All. I get there and there is a tarp with 500 gallons of water in the bow... Moss and larva in it. The skeg was ground down along with the propeller.. Wood chunks hanging out of the drain hole at the back. Inside: big patch job of wood in the center of the floor which flexes when you stand on it. Rotted through holes in both driver and passenger footwells...seats covered in mildew. Engine was clean as a whistle but the oil was milky and the seller played a fool and said he thought it was in great shape! Oh and the starter was possibly bad. Also the entire boat was scraped up and trashed. I was dumbfounded. I said how could you possibly tell me this boat was in excellent perfect condition and water ready on the phone???!!!! PASS!!!!

That stinks. I've had it happen here once or twice ... but not after a 3 hour drive. Hang in there.

Wow! So Sorry, That Stinks! There should be a penalty for that after driving that distance!

No Title

Like I said about the other one....keep saving your hard earned money....forget old boats....most people don't give a crap about maintaining what they have, they are not like the people on this forum. Get something MUCH MUCH newer and NO CARPET in an open boat!!! I'm telling you both those boats all all rotted under that stinky moldy carpet. All it does is cover up crappy factory 'glass work and makes the boat rot in less than 10 years. AT LEAST, if you want an older boat, get one with a fiberglass liner. Feel like doing this job?? IF not take my advice.....
