hi folks,
got the boat below..

IMG_1464.jpg

my problem is connecting the bitter end to the boat. i can connect it to the bow eye. to low to reach it practicly. or the side cleats which are to far astern. ya can barely see em in the pic. starboard side back by the window. or the liftin ring on the ft deck of the boat. that's what i like to use. i can reach it thru the center window. problem is. the rode. it is either on top of the rails. which then it migrates to the bow light and resides on either or side wherever it falls. then the stress is on the bow light. i aint happy with that. i got some chalks to guide the rode. but if i mount them, they will be under the rail. which i can not reach, if i want to have the rode go from the liftin ring and then be guided by the chalk.....anyone got any ideas? i don't have the chalks installed but do have some. just aint sure it's gonna make me happy is why they ain't installed.
the horn ain't in a real good spot either. and it wouldn't take much persuasion to get me to move it if i had a plan for the bitter end of my anchor rode...

Well, you could put a bridle on your two fore cleats. Or, you could leave a line tied to your bow eye with a carabiner on the other end that you leave attached to that eye bolt on the deck. When you want to anchor, just connect your anchor line to the carabiner, then use a boat hook to retrieve it.

Or how about a removable bent metal or fiberglass plate that would fit over the eye and nest between the bow rails above the light, thereby taking any load off it (the light)
By the way, that boat looks beautiful from the front. Different! Lots of character. Post more photos of it.

thanks for the idea guys. i remember reading td's artical on this subject. but i couldn't come up with the idea....

think i'll give that a try and see how i like that. especially like the fact that i'd not puttin any extra holes in my boat. glad i didn't mount them chalks. my only concern is retrieval. my boat hooks only kinda reachable....

thanks for the compliments frank. it does have some different features to it.
some of the cooler ones are the vertical slideing center windshield panal that stays wherever ya put it, the sliding hardtop, gunnels ya can walk around on w/ grab handels on the hardtop....
a couple a pics....

The bow eye is the only place to attach it in my book and the rougher the water, the more important that location is.

Make a loop (knot) in your anchor line a convenient distance from the bow eye such that attaching an auxillary rope of smaller diameter and suitable length would be retrieveable in the cabin/passenger area yet be long enough to be limp when the boat swings to and fro at anchor.

When it is time to "up anchor" just drive into your anchor line to relieve pressure and pull it in with the small rope. Worked great for me in the past. Stow the anchor and lines in the area where retrieved and just let the lines (to the bow eye) lie on the deck while underway.

Buttttttt when you get to the anchor and motor past it slightly, you have to get busy and get the rope/anchor in because you want to keep the bow of the boat into the wind upon retrieval.....course if it's not windy, it doesn't matter.

I had an Aristo Craft. I put a rope deck pipe on the fore deck and made a L shaped plate with two holes that I in put on the inside using one of the bow eye nuts to hold it in place and a schakle in the other hole to an eye splice on the bitter end. Just drop the rode down the rope pipe.
