Anchored in the middle of the channel.

So I'm not sure if I am in the wrong or if he was in the wrong but earlier this summer I was coming back from my cove. I was heading to the dock at about 15-20mph, nav lights on, when I see out in the distance a blue light, not blue like bright blue but blue like black light blue. I keep on going back to the dock when all of a suddon A guy starts flashing a light at me and screaming, I was about 100 yards away from a boat that decided to anchor in the middle of the channel with a blue anchor light (I guess blue because he thought it was cool). The guy is screaming at me and I am thinking what type of person thinks it is a good idea to use a blue anchor light and at that throw down anchor in the middle of a channel.

One thing I have notice is there is a level of stupidity that lake boaters have. People on the ocean don't always follow the rules but they are way better at it then lake boaters.

Thoughts?

A darn fool that doesn't know the rules of the road or one that just doesn't care. Good thing you saw him & no collision.

A blue light around here means it's attached to a search & rescue or police vessel. And they would be flashing. I think you came across a "let me show you my new LED's" numbskull.

Um, yeah. I have a thought. It takes a level of stupidity to make an insulting remark like that, blaming all lake boaters for the behavior of one.

That`s about like the boat that was tied off on a no wake buoy just out side of my marina on a pitch black night and with all of the street lights glaring behind him I barley saw him in time. Knowing I was close I flipped on the search light to spot the buoys to find a idiot 40 feet away. I was able to turn off but it was a lot closer than I liked, And he and she was real up set because both were nude in a 1 million CP search light beam. snickers

Yes, I see plenty of stupid in the ocean waters too. Like last summer, when a couple of 'babes' where sunning on their Boston Whaler . . . anchored right in the middle of the channel leading up to the town dock :facepalm:. . . .

c'mon, there are exceptions to every rule.....and "babes" sunning in the middle of the channel are one of those exceptions.

Well, it turned out that as I went by their boat in close proximity, they were only pretending to be babes . . .
