Anchor windlass

I have a anchor windlass on my 87 MR220v. I've never had one before. I found the mfg info and its properly wired with correct ga wire and relay. My question is how do you initially load the anchor chain/ rope into the gypsy on the windlass. The owners manual covers everything else...but does not show how to thread the chain, etc? Any one else out there have one?

In your case I would let the windless feed all the rode in. Take the bitter end of the rode and either attach something inside the anchor locker, or attach something to the end which will keep it from exiting
