I have just started watching the Cup, and have heard no mention of Paul Cayard. Is he not on a boat this year?? Other than Russel Coutts, he is the best. Those two, on equal boats, would give each other a tussle.
Been a lot of tactical errors the last couple of days. I can't believe One World let Prada loose yesterday and failed to cover--Major mistake in match racing that cost them bigtime.
Is TV coverage in the states going to be covered by ESPN at some point, rather than OLN??? Gary Jobson is such a superior TV analyst!!!

John

At least you get to see it in the USA. I have friends in Australia who say there's no coverage at all there. When Allan Bond took it in the 80's we watched it all here in NZ.
Ross

Paul cayard has been hiding in San Fransisco! people have made jokes that he is depressed and stuff and ran away after he lost the cup to prada, from what I hear (he was my favorite) he is not going back to the cup and has giving up pro sailing (I think)

Actually, I did a search and found out that Cayard is on contract as we speak with Oracle/BMW racing, and somehow he and Oracle had a falling out and he is no longer directly on the team. But he is still on contract with them.

One World could sure have used him last nite. Spithill got outsailed by Oracle and Chris ****son throughout the whole race, especially at the end where they took the lead and could not close the door

Re: America's Cup-Paul Cayard

He couldn't beat Coutts last time, and no one will beat him this time, save possibly for team NZ.

Personally, I am hoping for a European victory.

Did you see last nite's start, when Oneworld just selfdestructed? Sad. Oneworld is a faster boat than Oracle, but is consistently getting outsailed. I don't think either of them can beat Coutts, but Oneworld has the best chance from a boat speed point of view. Too bad they don't have better sailers and tactitians on board.
