Hi Ive got a DP C, 5.0, both built 92... Is there a more accurate model description for ordering parts (eg 280, 290)? The trim rams have round ends

Motor / /outdrive came already removed from boat, and there is no inner transom bracket, or anything else to hold the flywheel cover / rear engine mount: is this model supposed to have such a bracket?

Cheers :watermelon:

its a DP-C. the child of the 290 and 290A.

there is no inner transom shield, only 6 large rectangular washers. the PDS housing goes thru the hole in the drive and is sandwiched there with two large donuts. this is infact the rear mount

there is no gimble bearing on the AQ series. extremely easy to align.

is that all you have in the picture?. hopefully you didnt buy the boat as a basket case and you only needed the drive. the steering actuator and the PDS housing will be needed, so will a bunch of really really really expensive hardware if all you have is what is shown.

Ah thanks Scott, was hoping u'd see my post, very relieving to know!! Yes i have the steering actuator, and the bracket that mounts it to the transom shield; and the PDS housing (didnt know its name, thanks). I have the 2 donuts - should they be replaced with new? (read that somewhere) Thinking i should replace the bearing in the PDS housing - easy job? Everything else seems in good cond - bearings are smooth, uni joints have been replaced, changes gears smoothly, i know i need a couple of seals, and a pair of props, but that (not needed) bracket was all i thought might be missing.

What would be standard practice to renew prior to installation? I have a new bellows already, and the big pivot pins, and a new front prop nut; will get new inlet casting... what else?

And do i need a tool to align this setup, or is it just a case of getting those 3 tabs gapped as even as possible?

Thanks!

Im guessing you plan on putting this in something? which motor is in front? 5.0 is kind of generic. you do not have a power steering cooler mounted in its typical place.

yes, you should replace the donuts and the transom gasket.

replace the steering helmet bushings and seals, the star wheel star wheel seals and the tilt segment on the steering helmet

might as well replace the PDS bearings if you have it out.

pressure test and vacuum test the drive.
use synthetic gear lube - Im running amsoil.

no tool needed. the PDS has little tabs at 3 o'clock, 9 o'clock and 12 o'clock positions that correspond to the inside of the transom shield. make all of them within 1mm of each other or better. I used a feeler gauge.

I believe that there is an alignment guide for the AQ drives in the stickies.

do you have the prop cone nut? shift cover? controls?

do you have the prop cone nut? shift cover? controls? Yes yes and yes, thanks again, the above is most helpful. Power steer cooler is mounted on the engine. It all belongs in a 19.6' wellcraft which i am rebuilding (see link in my sig) Holley carb engine, dont know what other letters belong in its description - im new to chevys and I/O's

Heres the lump

Been looking up the prices for the leg bits - the various seals, orings, bushes, etc - not too bad... except for the 2 little rubber pipes goings from y-pipe thru the shield at over $120 each!! Heaven forbid u had to buy the y-pipe, at over $4000!!!! Now i understand the bad rep about I/Os from the mid mount guys, ridiculous genuine part prices... Even makes Outboard parts seem like giveaways!

Is there any aftermarket suppliers?
