Looking for some help with the wiring, total noob at it.
Got my hands on this motor, cheap deal with a boat and trailer.

When i turn the key, solenoid engages but starter doesn't.
Checked starter manually, runs and engine started ratatatatata, just needs a good carb cleanup besides detailing.

Trying to diagnose solenoid today, i noticed theres a obvious-looking connectiong from starter to solenoid having no cable.
Downloaded diagrams and indeed, solenoid looks having 2 positive, 1 to battery 1 to starter.
Starter is only grounded, nothing else is connected.

Am i right that the obvious cable is simply missing here on the photo?
Should be able to get it any hardware store right?

Not being there and having a look over everything, yes, unless there is a heavy gauge wire going from the starter solenoid to the actual starter, there is no way to power the starter. But also don't forget you have to have a heavy ground wire on the engine for the circuit to be complete too. And make sure all those connections are clean shiny metal connections and tight...

Thanks! It was missing indeed, dunno why on earth someone would remove remove it.
It starts like a charm from key now, dies due to carb spitting out fuel, but it's closer now haha.
Taking carb off tomorrow, give it a nice clean and ready to test

Yep, it's missing. Doubtful a hardware store or even a Big Box store has the cable. Better off to go an auto parts store and buy two logs and a piece battery cable or a short battery cable for a car that connects the battery to the starter. Cut off the battery end and stake a lug on the end.
