confused : who is telling you to drain the carbs every night?. Theres no reason to drain them and you can do more damage either draining them or running the motor out of gas every night.

If you will be running again tomorrow, don't bother running it out... but if it will be a week, run it dry. Stabilizer is fine, but the evaporating fuel will still leave residue in the carb if you leave it for a few days... say a week or 2.

looks like two different views. I only run a unit dry if I'm not going to use it for a few days

Exactly right. Overnight is fine; a week or 2 and you risk varnishing.

The best way to remove the gas is by the drain screws as any trash in the bowl will not be sucked into the motor and the motor will not run lean as it runs out of gas. If you are planning to run the motor out of gas make sure you do this at very low rpm's as it may try to run away as the carbs empty.
