I have an aluminum v-bottom boat that is riveted. I have never seen one that does not leak. How do I seal it? Have wire brushed the seams and siliconed, but it still leaks at those seams, Is there a better way?

Two words. "Gluv It". Available at: www.westmarine.com.

You'll have to tighten up the loose ones first. Apply this product from the inside to a clean area and viola; a leak proof aluminum boat.

At iBoats

Probably take 2 quarts or so. You don't need to paint the whole bottom, just the rivets and seams.

Put somewater in the boat and mark the leaking rivets then rebuck them, would probably take a buddy on the outside of the boat btu it is really easy.

A big steel hammer and a smaller one is all you need, have someone hold the big hamer against the rivet outside the boat and smack it on the inside, leak gone.

Gluvit is a fabulous product from what I have heard but in my opinion it is a band-aid fix if you don't rebuck first, if you do both(rebuck then seal) it will certainly be a dry hull.

Buy the way, I have an '81 riveted v bow Sea-Nymph that doesn't leak and I have never touched it so they do exist.
