Aluminum prop repairs

Has anyone tried to repair their aluminum props using those rods advertized on TV. I did a search about alumoloy. It sounds like it would work by the comments that are posted. These work using a small torch propane or mapp gas. I'm not looking to repair major damage, just fill in smaller nicks or missing pieces. There are a number of rods out there, and anywhere from $35.00 to $65.00 per pound for the rods. I was wondering if anyone has tried this, and how well it holds up. thanks for your comments
