Aluminum Canoe - Which Motor

I was reading on the Minn-Kota website about boat length. I have an 16 ft aluminum canoe with rear transom. The MK website suggests a 36 thrust motor. A buddy of mine said a 25 thrust would be just fine. Any suggestions?

Your buddy would be correct. 36# is a bit over the top for that application. But, depending on price difference, it's much easier to throttle back a 36 than it is to speed up a 25. It also depends on how big the load is.

Thanks, I tend to agree. I am going to get the 30lbs thrust.

agreed, i have a 45 lb, on my 18 ft center console. you could probably ski with it.
