What is with the new push for us to use aluminum anodes rather than zinc when we have aluminum drives. I switched to aluminum anodes but am switching back to zinc after finding corrosion on my prop. Pure aluminum and whatever aluminum alloy in our drives are too close in nobility to protect in my opinion,

Re: Aluminum Anodes??

Well, It's not all that "new" I guess. The SB is dated 1991 I think.

See http://www.boatfix.com/merc/Bullet/91/91_19.pdf

If you want to learn more, you could go here: http://www.jcse.org/Volume9/Preprints/V9Preprint14.pdf

There's a lot of good references.

I would just follow the Mercury Service bulletin instructions if I was going to put my boat in the water for an extended amount of time.

Of course......I would NEVER leave my boat in the water (salt or fresh) for an extended amount time.

Regards,

Rick
