Alumacraft S-12 sailboat mast info

I just picked up an old Alumacraft S-12 sailboat on Craigslist but it's missing the main mast pole. Do any of you have one that you would be willing measure the length and diameter for me? From measuring pictures I've found online it looks to be about 12 feet but I'd like to verify that.

Other insights anyone may have would certainly be welcome too. For example, do you know of any other manufacturer's mast that would be compatible or what thickness of material I should look for if I just go find an aluminum pipe.

Alumacraft appears to still be in business. Why not call their Customer Service and see if they have some info in the archives that might help. Good luck!

I did get in touch with them. It took several days but they were able to find something in the archives and they're mailing it out to me. That's pretty amazing customer service for such an old boat! I'm looking forward to see what they found.

Well, I got a large envelope from Alumacraft and I must say that they went totally above and beyond what anyone would expect. They dug into the archive and managed to find rigging instructions with a diagram and dimensions of the mast, etc. But the big surprise was they sent a blueprint sized sheet with all of the sail construction measurements too. That's an amazing effort for a boat that hasn't been made since the early 1970s.

What I found is that the mast is 12' long with a 2.5" outside diameter. It's made from round aluminum stock with a .125" wall thickness. There is a cap with an eyelet attached to the top.

So now the trick is to find an affordable replacement. Considering how little I paid for the boat, I don't want to incur too much expense it getting it sailing. I'd be grateful for any suggestions.

If nothing else, the details above might be helpful to someone else who has one of these.

I just got my hands on an s 12. Everything is there but the sail. I'd be very grateful if you could share the info you got from alumacraft, especially the sail dimensions.

I just bought an s-12 for my daughter. It is missing a jib, instead of a metal centerboard it has a homemade plywood daggerboard, and the mast seems to be steel rather than aluminum. I would appreciate PDFs of any of the material you got from alumacraft so I can replicate the original equipment. Of course, if any has a jib, centerboard or mast that they want to sell, I would be interested. Thanks.

Here's a picture of the large sheet I received. It gives all of the measurements on the sails, including the jib.
