I have a 2001 Mercury 150 2 stroke with charging problems. I took off cowling and don't see the alternator anywhere! Can someone post a pic or explain where it is in engine? I have changed them in my car before but don't seem to be able to even find it in an outboard.

welcome aboard.

its a series of magnets and coils under your flywheel.

most likely your rectifier is shot.

post your serial number and one of the outboard experts will be along shortly.

called "stator" and like said its under tha flywheel.. you have two regulators/rectifiers on tha starboard side of tha motor... they will be about 2 1/2 inches square.. one and/or both probably tha culprits.... possible tha stator itself... need ta be tested by a GOOD tech.
