I'd go with a 70 to 80 amp. ;)

Marine alternators are constructed in a manner which makes them spark proof (safe) thus, saving one's butt from going airborne at start up with fishing pole and tackle box, and cold beer 'still in hand'

Hope this helps you out some.

Re: Alternator Kaput.!!!

If you're charging two batteries 60-80 amps is a good range.

Keep in mind that 1750W inverter will draw 145 amps from the battery at full load. If you just use it for a short period of time like to microwave your food, that's fine but if you hook up a large continuous load you'll have a serious battery drain.

I.e. a 1200 watt electric heater, a microwave, small air conditioner, or a stove drawing 10 amps at 120 volts will pull 145 amps at 12V.

Also, have you resolved your propeller issue?

I have a Reinell C26 with a 190 HP Ford 302 that's only getting 15 mph on a 15-pitch prop.

It looks like we might have the same problem.

check ebay for your replacement alternator. I got a delco single wire for under $100 -including shipping. you'll find all brands there... most are remanufactured. Some folks will warn you off reman's but I've used em on my cars w/never a problem.
