Hi all, want to make sure I am not missing something with an alternator hookup on a 2006 Volvo Penta 5.7 Gxi-g. This is a pulled motor, not in a boat, the orange wire (heavy gauge) that is part of the main harness is cut at the alternator but is attached at the starter, and the is continuity. Actually attached to the alternator is a red wire (heavy gauge) that is also cut about 2 ft long. I assume, before the motor was pulled from the donor, these were connected together with a third wire that went to batteries or something, that is my guess anyway . Just want to make sure that I am not missing something with why the harness wire would be cut that is particular to VP motor… ie bypass of something in the main harness. I will post a picture when I can get better reception.
Thanks
Scott

This is a pulled motor
Many times if the orange wire will be disconnected from ALT if it's going to a isolator, auto charge relay or Battery switch connecting different Bats.

Connecting it to a Bat switch would be worst case

If your installing the motor in standard fashion, re-connect the orange wire and get rid of the red one hanging. Then install as normal
