Alternator Field Disconnect AFD needed on Outboard??

Is there any need for AFD with ANY outboard??? I have an '84 Johnson 115.. getting ready to run wiring... going to use a selector switch, but I'm not sure if AFD would do anything for me...

Any input?

No! The alternator on an outboard is very different than the one on your car or I/O powered boat.
