Alternator damage at idle.

I have never seen an alternator damaged from charging an aux battery at idle. If someone has run into this, please explain the conditions. Aux batteries are common in light trucks with campers, and are wired up much the same way you would to charge a trolling motor battery in a boat via the trailer wiring connector.
