I'd agree, those prices aren't bad. I'd get a quote on the rebuild however just to compare. If your going through the boat, and don't have a good history, you may want to pull the starter and have that tested/replaced. Piece of mind thing for me.

Whats the history on the u-joint bellows, impellor? Those should be replaced every two years. Are you ready to tear into it?::cool:

You can find mine in the garbage, actually the recycle pile, where it belongs. They are a very expensive alternator and not worth it. I replaced mine with a much cheaper marine AC Delco, single wire alternator. These alternators a very common. Works great at a fraction of the cost to rebuild/replace the old Paris Rhone. The only thing I had to do was extend the adjuster arm a bit and the shop put a slightly smaller fan on it. The pulleys lines up perfectly. Just something for you to consider.

Have a great day,

Rob.

Well its been a while but I had the existing Valeo alternator taken to a shop and load tested. It is fine and so is the battery. (this is an automotive electrical repair shop that only deals with alternators and starters and it was free for testing) Im going to have to call the guy i bought it from and see what it was doing to make him think it was the alternator because i have yet to see a problem it that area. ill keep up to date on the post this time. thanks guys. Rob am I assuming correctly that this is the factory brand alternator??
