My mechanic first thought it was the line, then he said it was a plastic piece that is broken and the engine might need to be pulled to get at it. He recommends just capping line off and not using the reseivour. He said older boats use to not have a reseivoir? I am at a lost at what to do and while he can do things cheap and get it working, I don't know what todo. 190HP 4.L on a 2000 Maxum.

If you are short on $$$, cap it off. If or when you have more $$$$ do the full fix and get the reservoir back in operation.

Yep, that fitting was originally brass, but it appears Merc were not making enough on the sale of spares, so it's now plastic, and breaks VERY easily. And before you ask, no you can't retrofit a brass one. Merc already thought of that....

As for running without the reservoir, yep most boats up to about 1991 never had them. And again, I agree, fix it when you can't fish... ;)
