I've had some starter problems w/ my merc 4.3LX the last month or so. First problem was that the electric fuel pump wasn't getting juice. This was corrected after cleaning the leads to the pressure switch down by the oil filter. To test disconnect the two wires and jumper them. Then turn the key to the on position. You should hear the electric fuel pump running (clicking). I also had a problem with a bad kill switch. If you jumper the wires and then turn the key on and still nothing on the pump then you may want to check the kill switch. This of course would apply if you have an electric fuel pump.
