Last night i put the muffs on the boat and fired it up for the first time since the upper gear's were replaced. Everything seemed fine until i slipped it into gear (no prop) and noticed no water coming from the lower unit hole (Gen II)

Now my water hose has a very healthly flow rate i cannot see or understand why there would be only a small dribble come from the vent. I am i missing something here?

Umm no prostrate jokes plz..........i couldn't bear that..:'(

Re: alpha one water pump working?

Did you give it some throttle to see if it would pickup? Sometimes at idle they won't pickup the water if the water pressure is low.
When the new impeller was installed, was the vanes in the proper direction? With a Gen II pump, they will not turn around on their own like an Alpha I drive will. Different kind of impeller.
May also be plugged risers or manifolds.
Time to start checking where the flow stops.

No i did not rev up the motor while in gear, this boat stuff is all new to me and im not going to pretend like ohh yea i knew that.

I Had fears that the impeller wasnt being lubed properly, so i just gave it a tickle, i did install the impeller so it spun in a clockwise motion. I am quite sure there are no jacket's that are plugged, I am going back to the house that installed the gears, and see what they have to say, after all they go 8 hours labor and 400 for a used gear case ........8) i have yet to tell them im in the auto bus and they charged me for a complete tear down when i had the whole damm unit off, i just didnt want to align the damm thing and install the gears without mics

So all said and done, there should be a healthy stream coming from the lower unit

Again thankyou Don as always its a pleasure.
