Alpha one stalling in reverse

Dropped my lower unit to replace impeller, now it stall going into reverse. What did i mess up?

Make sure the bell hsg shift foot and the lower unit shift lever are engaged. If not pull the drive back enough to clear. Put your controller in WOT FWD and the drive lever pointing forward

Hold the prop CCW. Better hold it locked CCW with a bungee Now push it hone. 50 ft lb on the six nuts

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... My guess is, the lower slipped into neutral as you put it together,......

I use a bungee strap 'round the prop shaft to hold tension against the dogs, Lockin' it into gear,.....

Would it matter that forward still works?
