I have just recently replaced my water pump and am looking to pressure test both the halves separately so i can isolate any leaks. How can i go about doing this, or do i have to mate them and then pressure test?

All you have to do is plug the oil passage between the upper and lower. If you don't have a rubber plug to so the job, a friend with a finger over the hole will work.

me personally, i wouldn't use a compressor. unless ya can turn it way down.
a few pumps from my chineeze bicycle pump that has a leaky hose is enough to get me up to 14psi. i'd get a new pump, but the leaky one still does work, so i continue to use it..
